The problem is caused by the withe background of the LoginDlg div control that cover the contents.

The solution is to remove the background from the LoginDlg in the css files.

Of course is not nice to have a div login control without background, than it is possible reintroduce it in the AnonimousView div by adding a new class in the css file as the following:

<font size="2" color="#a31515"><font size="2" color="#a31515">

#LoginDlg

</font></font><font size="2" color="#a31515">

</font>

{
/*background-color : White;*/
left: 275px;
top: 150px;
width:325px;
height : 190px;
z-index : 1500;
position :fixed;
border: thin ridge #CC6600;
padding: 2px 2px 2px 2px;
display: none;
}<font size="2" color="#a31515"><font size="2" color="#a31515">

.LoginClass

</font></font><font size="2" color="#a31515">

</font>

{
background-color : White;
left: 275px;
top: 150px;
width: 325px;
height: 190px;
z-index: 1500;
position: fixed;
border: thin ridge #C60;
padding: 2px;
display: block;
}

the div control AnonimousView in the master file become:<font size="2">

</font>

<div id="AnonymousView" class="LoginClass">

You have to modifi other alternative div in the login div as well.

By working around it is possible to obtain better visualizzation, but this is enought to work on IE8.

Has anyone found a reasonable solution to this yet?

If I set  background-color : transparent; I can see the text, sort of, against the gray background color. But no combination of

.LoginClass and #LoginDlg that I have tried makes a not ugly display.

iodavide, thanks for your help. If I have some time over the next week I will see if I can truly resolve this issue. Like I have said several times, this was working fine till around mid-June last year when it suddenly stopped.
